Last updated: 8 October 2025

Welcome
Welcome to Story-a-Day (“Story-a-Day”, “we”, “our”, “us”). These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, accounts, and services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, starting a free trial, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1) Who we are (pilot phase)
Story-a-Day is currently operated by its founders as a pilot project. A Luxembourg legal entity will be established in due course. Until then, “Story-a-Day”, “we”, and “us” refer to the founders jointly operating the Service.
For all questions, including data protection matters, contact us at: info@story-a-day.shop
2) Eligibility and account
• You must be 18+ and a parent or legal guardian to create an account and provide a child’s information.
• You agree to provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts for misuse, fraud, or security risks.
3) What we provide
We deliver personalized daily children’s stories by email, based on the preferences you share (e.g., age, themes, values, interests, languages). Stories are designed for entertainment and learning support.
AI content notice: Stories are generated by AI without human review. While we strive for child-appropriate content, we do not guarantee that every story will be free from inaccuracies or themes you may find unsuitable. Parents/guardians are responsible for reviewing stories before sharing them with children. Please report any issues to info@story-a-day.shop so we can improve.
4) Your inputs & acceptable use
• You may submit information to personalize stories (e.g., child’s nickname, age, interests, values).
• You must only submit information you are entitled to share and that is appropriate for children.
• You must not provide illegal, harmful, or sensitive data (e.g., health data, precise location, government IDs).
• You must not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or misuse the Service.
License to operate the Service: You grant us a non-exclusive license to use your inputs to (i) provide and personalize the Service, (ii) maintain security and quality, and (iii) improve our models and features using aggregated or de-identified data.
5) Intellectual property & your limited license
• All Service content (including stories, illustrations, software, and branding) is owned by us or our licensors.
• We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial license to access and use the stories for your household. You may print or save them for personal use.
• You may not sell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the content without our written consent.
6) Subscriptions, free trial, renewal, cancellation
• Free trial: New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your plan converts to a paid monthly subscription.
• Billing & renewal: We process payments via secure providers (e.g., Stripe). We do not store full card details. Subscriptions auto-renew monthly until cancelled.
• Cancellation: You can cancel at any time via your account or by emailing info@story-a-day.shop. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
• Refunds: Because digital content is delivered immediately, refunds are generally not available once access begins, except where required by law.
7) Right of withdrawal (EU digital content)
Under EU law, consumers usually have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services. By starting your free trial or subscription and accessing Story-a-Day’s digital content immediately, you expressly agree that the Service begins right away and you waive your withdrawal right once delivery has started.
8) GDPR & Data Protection
We are fully committed to protecting your personal data and complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
8.1 Data Controller
The founders of Story-a-Day act as joint data controllers.

- Child’s first name or nickname, age, language preferences
- Selected values, themes, and personalization settings
- Payment and billing data (processed via Stripe, not stored in full by us)
- Usage and interaction data (e.g., email opens, website analytics)
8.3 Why we process your data (Lawful Bases under GDPR)
- Performance of contract: To deliver personalized stories, manage your account, and provide customer support.
- Legitimate interest: To improve our service, ensure security, and prevent abuse.
- Legal obligation: To comply with applicable financial and tax regulations.
- Direct marketing: To send you product updates and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
8.4 Data storage & transfers
We use AWS and Wix for hosting and delivery. Data may be stored or processed within or outside the EU, including in the United States. Where transfers occur, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent legal safeguards.
8.5 How long we keep data
We retain your data while your account is active and for up to 12 months after cancellation, unless a longer period is required by law. You may request deletion at any time.
8.6 Your GDPR rights
You have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, object, and port your data, and to withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact info@story-a-day.shop.
If you believe your rights have been violated, you may complain to the CNPD (Luxembourg) or your local data authority.
9) Marketing & service communications
By subscribing, you agree that we may send service communications (e.g., story delivery, account notices) and marketing related to our products.
You can opt out of marketing at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us. We do not share your data with third parties for their independent marketing.
10) Service availability & changes
We aim to provide a reliable daily service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify or discontinue features, plans, or the Service. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice. Continued use indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
11) Third-party services
We use trusted providers (e.g., AWS, Wix, Stripe) to host, deliver, and bill the Service. Your use of third-party platforms may be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party websites or services we do not control.
12) Disclaimers & limits of liability
• The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
• Given the AI-generated nature of content, we do not guarantee suitability for every child or situation. Parents/guardians should review stories as needed.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
• Our total liability for direct damages is limited to the fees you paid in the 3 months preceding the claim.
• Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including your statutory consumer rights.
13) Suspension or termination
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe there is misuse, fraud, non-payment, or security risk. You may stop using the Service at any time and cancel as described above. Sections that should survive termination (e.g., IP, liability) will continue.
14) Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Luxembourg. Courts located in Luxembourg City will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
EU consumers may also use the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
15) Communications & electronic records
You agree that we may communicate with you electronically (e.g., email). Please keep your contact details up to date.
16) Miscellaneous
• These Terms are the entire agreement regarding the Service.
• If any provision is invalid, the rest remains in effect.
• A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
• You may not assign these Terms; we may assign in connection with a reorganization or incorporation.
• These Terms are provided in English; if translated, the English version prevails.
